Description |
Middle-aged man in a dark suit with a vest. He is not wearing a tie. It is believed that this is the portrait of Norwood Evans, one of the first mail carriers in Howard County, circa 1865, under Postmaster George McKinsey. Loaned by the family. Possibly Norman Evans who, according to #2001.001.fic.0025, was an early Kokomo mail carrier. Note: Two numbers are scratched on the back: "254" and "20370". If "254" is the correct accession number, then this is Norwood Evans. Note: George McKinsey was appointed Kokomo Postmaster in 1889 according to his obituary of 6 Apr 1900. (R. Smith, 6 Nov, 2014) |
